Being a plastic sheeting supplier to the aviation industry means that we receive more and more often questions about the thickness of our plastic sheeting and (shrink) foils. Airlines and associated ground handling companies are continuously seeking for possibilities to reduce the thickness of their plastic sheeting used for cargo protection. This tendency has resulted in a plastic sheeting thickness decline from 40 to on average 22mu (and in some cases even 18mu!) in recent years.
The aviation industry was heavily hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and also Cargo capacity reduced dramatically. KLM has therefore been operating Cargo in Cabin (CIC) flights carrying medical relief goods / PPE material on seats, using plastic sheeting and straps. Initially, these now over 150 flights were mainly executed by the remaining three KLM Boeing 747 Combi aircraft.

Nieuw-Vennep, 19th June 2020 – Edwin de Jongh, managing director of Fr8, has announced to join the advisory board of Trip & Co. In this upcoming change, Trip & Co and Fr8 will join their strategic forces within a collaboration. By taking this step, de Jongh hopes to contribute to the worldwide success of Trip & Co.
Nieuw-Vennep, 28th April 2020 – Trip & Co and SII Netherlands have announced a cooperation in which they join their forces in order to support airlines with the challenge of cargo transportation in aircraft cabins. Due to the enormous demand for PAX to Cargo solutions, which Trip & Co successfully launched a few weeks ago, the company has partnered up with SII Netherlands in order to deliver these products with STC certification process even faster all over the world.
Nieuw-Vennep, 7 April 2020 – Safety products company Trip & Co has recently developed a solution that will enable airlines using passenger cabins for air cargo transportation to increase safety, efficiency and ease. In 2018, Trip & Co in Nieuw-Vennep, rolled out a unique repair concept and as of 2019, Trip & Co puts rejected products through a recycling process. This initiative fully focusses on sustainable product use. Production manager Lucas Alkemade explains the benefits and the process.

Jos Mes is Buyer Projects at KLM Cargo and as such responsible for overall buying for the company’s freight handling business. He has been personally involved since after Trip & Co moved to Nieuw-Vennep. KLM Cargo’s cooperation with Trip & Co dates back to over 30 years ago.
