Being a plastic sheeting supplier to the aviation industry means that we receive more and more often questions about the thickness of our plastic sheeting and (shrink) foils. Airlines and associated ground handling companies are continuously seeking for possibilities to reduce the thickness of their plastic sheeting used for cargo protection. This tendency has resulted in a plastic sheeting thickness decline from 40 to on average 22mu (and in some cases even 18mu!) in recent years.

The aviation industry was heavily hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and also Cargo capacity reduced dramatically. KLM has therefore been operating Cargo in Cabin (CIC) flights carrying medical relief goods / PPE material on seats, using plastic sheeting and straps. Initially, these now over 150 flights were mainly executed by the remaining three KLM Boeing 747 Combi aircraft.

Suitable for all sorts of cargo, efficient loading and unloading resulting in a higher revenue. Reason for Trip & Co to register some of their cargo in cabin innovations at the patent and trademark office’s database.
